“Spirit in the Sky” is a song written and originally recorded by Norman Greenbaum and released in 1969. The single sold 2 million copies in 1969 and 1970 and got to number 3 in the U.S. Billboard chart, as well as number 1 on the UK, Australian and Canadian charts in 1970. Rolling Stone ranked “Spirit in the Sky” #333 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. The song was featured on the 1969 album of the same name.

While this was a great idea, our team realized that we would be trying to compete against the giants of the video sharing industry, such as YouTube, Game Trailers and Daily Motion and in their shadow, we would merely be trying to reinvent the wheel.

A rethink was in order and Gaming Unlimited TV took the form you see today. Instead of independent video hosting, GUTV (as we abbreviate it) exists as a focal point, if you will. A lot of Gamers understandably choose YouTube to gain as much exposure as they can for their video, but even in the categorized world of YouTube, videos can get lost in the crowd and that is where Gaming Unlimited TV comes in.

By simply pasting in the link of the a YouTube video, Gaming Unlimited TV automatically features that video. No re-uploading, no waiting time, the video is featured on Gaming Unlimited TV and when enough gamers do that, Gaming Unlimited TV will become a focal point and filter for YouTube Gaming Videos.

Furthermore, by following this simple process, Gaming Unlimited offers the option of searching through the YouTube videos featured by the year they were made.

Pre Sept. 2010, the site only allowed YouTube embeds. In Mid September 2010 this site was put on a new server – thus allowing complete functionality. Thanks to Mindwipe as well for his advice during that process. On July 13, 2011, I made the move to not allow direct uploads, and only allowed YouTube embeds once again… a business decision. You will see the occasional non-YouTube videos here, as the admins can add uploaded content manually.

Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s 1993 CD “Facing Future” includes the medley “Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World” which has been heard in numerous movies, television shows and commercials.

Israel – better known as “Bruddah Iz” or “Iz” – who passed away in 1997, was far more than an entertainer. He was loved deeply by all the people of Hawaii. In a sense, he was a living hero in the Islands, and upon his death he was given the profound honor of lying in state in the capital rotunda in Honolulu so that his thousands of loyal fans could pay their loving last respects.
